Have you ever been curious about the life an antique had before you found it?
I have — which is why I have created a business out of taking old treasures and turning them into beautiful accessories to share with you in your special moments.
Hey, my name is Maggie! While I was growing up in Columbus, OH, if you couldn’t find my mom (otherwise known as “Gigi” to my nephew and the inspiration behind GGCC) — she was most likely at the thrift store. When I graduated and went away to college, thrifting became sacred time for my mom and I when I would come home to visit. Not to mention that my income was limited, so thrifting was about all the shopping I did. When I would come home on weekends we would sneak out any chance we got.
When it came time to truly leave the nest and start building my own life after college, my mom was my biggest cheerleader. We pretty much furnished my entire first apartment with thrifted finds; from dishes, to decor, and of course my new wardrobe required for the hot Houston summers! Not only did I find something that someone else once loved, I also had a piece of my mom with me as I moved across the country.
I still thrift 1, 2, or sometimes even 5 times a week here in Houston, TX. For a while I have wanted to share my finds in some way. When I got engaged in Spring 2022, I naturally decided that I wanted to thrift all of my dinnerware for my future wedding. As my second bedroom started to fill with thrifted dishes, Gigi’s China Cabinet was born.
